HP is celebrating an early harvest today by announcing a slew of new Compaq business notebooks targeted to every type of business user. All of presario 2500 batteries have the svelte charcoal finish we've come to expect from the line, and most offer the latest in TPM security, biometrics, and hard drive protection, not to mention dual-core processors and graphics bumps.
The smallest of the lot is the nc2400 (starting from $1,599). Starting at three-pounds, the 12.1-inch widescreen notebook measures less than one-inch thick. Users can choose between Intel Core Solo and Celeron M processors, and a three-, six-, or nine-cell battery. The presario r3000 battery offers a full-sized keyboard, a feature often overlooked in ultraportables, as well as HP's Fast Charge technology, which gives the battery a 90 percent charge in 90 minutes. Security is covered by HP's ProtectTools, which includes a TPM chip, a standard fingerprint reader, and an optional Smart Card reader. The nc2400's in-mold lamination protects the notebook from scratches, and the Mobile Data Protection System 3D, magnesium frame, and magnesium alloy exterior help protect the notebook from drops.
HP's other 12.1-inch option is the new presario v2000 (starting from $1,649) series. Available in both standard ultraportable (nc4400) and tablet (tc4400) forms, these notebooks begin at 3.9 and 4.6 pounds, respectively. Both feature Intel Core Duo processors, HP ProtectTools, Fast Charge technology, HP Mobile Data Protection System 3D, in-mold lamination, a magnesium frame, magnesium alloy casing, and optional HP Broadband Wireless in partnership with Verizon Wireless for accessing the Web at high speeds without having to hunt for a hotspot. The tc4400 convertible tablet features an XGA display, with an active digitizer and a 160-degree viewing angle.
The 14.1-inch widescreen nc6400 (starting from $1,549) starts at a light 4.4 pounds. This thin-and-light notebook sports an Intel dual-core processor and features optional ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 graphics and HP Broadband Wireless. The MultiBay II lets users switch between the optical drive, a secondary hard drive, and a weight saver. On the security front, the nc6400(367759-001 battery) features ProtectTools and the HP privacy filter, which narrows the screen's viewing angle. HP Mobile Data Protection 3D, along with the magnesium reinforced base and magnesium display, help protect the notebook from shock.
The largest addition to the Compaq business line is the 17-inch widescreen presario v4000(presario v4000 battery). Starting at 7.4-pounds, the notebook features an Intel dual-core processor and Nvidia Quadro FX 1500M graphics, making this system a full-powered mobile workstation. The nw9440 also offers a full-sized numeric keypad, optional LightScribe optical drive, HP ProtectTools, HP's Mobile Data Protection System 3D, and a standard eight-cell battery. Also introduced today on the business side are the 15.4-inch Compaq nx7400 (starting from $749), nw8440, nx8420, and nc8430 (starting from $1,599).
On the consumer end, HP announced two new systems, the HP Pavilion dv2000 (compaq 319411-001 battery) and the Compaq Presario V3000 (uses compaq 346970-001). They offer stylish designs using a smooth high-gloss finish, along with a choice between AMD's upcoming dual-core processor and Intel's Core Duo CPU. AMD's new processor won't be available immediately, but you can expect to find it as an option later this quarter.
